It’s a kind of therapy that, alongside a discussion about your situation, guides you to a relaxed state where you may feel more open to change.
I tend to favour the use of Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy for most of my clients. Lots of therapy approaches spend time exploring difficult or traumatic events in the past to help you understand the behaviour you are displaying or feelings you have. Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy is different; this approach focusses on the solutions you want, and the life goals you have. It’s a gentle approach that means sessions are often very enjoyable.
It uses elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy) with hypnosis to help you focus on the outcome you want and to create positive change. Not only will you learn how to move forward from where you are now, but you will also have the tools to do so in the future if the situation arises.

Hypnosis is the place where the conscious and subconscious brains come together.
It’s a state we all go into many tmes a day – ever driven somewhere you’ve been many times before and not really remembered the journey? You were in a trance. If someone had stepped out in front of the car you would have stopped and jolted yourself out of it, so you know you weren’t a danger, but it was a dreamy rather pleasant place to be. Many of us will recall staring out of the window at school and not really listening to the teacher. That’s the place that hypnosis takes you.
The brain can benefit hugely from that trance state, and it can get to work on things in a different way.

You are! First of all, my therapy approach is all about you coming up with the solutions you want to work towards.
I can help you identify them and focus on getting there but you will be the designer.
Secondly in hypnosis you are always in control. Nobody can be hypnotised if they don’t want to, and they can’t be forced to do anything they don’t want to. The hypnotists you might have seen in the world of entertainment very carefully choose participants who are willing to join in all the fun and who happily go along with their fun and games.

A typical session lasts an hour, and we tend to chat for the first half to talk about the positive changes you are making and the new objectives you would like to work towards. Then you will enjoy a relaxed trance state for the second half of the session whilst I help you visualise your version of success and the positive changes.
Afterwards you will feel calm and relaxed but perfectly able to go about your day. It’s not a passive form of therapy and does require effort but it is a positive and enjoyable kind of therapy
I can carry out sessions in person at my house or over Zoom. For the latter you just need a quiet space where you can relax and are unlikely to be disturbed as well as decent Wi-Fi connection.

It really depends on what your goals are so it is up to you, and we stop when you want to stop, people are sometimes as few as 4 sessions but the majority take between 8 and 12.
You will typically feel an impact after he first one and really start to feel you are making progress after 3.
Phobias are a little different and can be tackled in 3 sessions, smoking/vaping I do in one longer session.

Positve thinking is important in helping our brains work as brilliantly as they can, so I ask that each night before you go to sleep you scribble down 3 things that have been good.
I will also give you a relaxaton audio recording for you to listen to each night to help you calm your mind.
We’ll also talk about you making sure you are moving your body enough and spending time with people who make you feel good.
How much or how little you do is up to you.

After graduating with an Honours degree in Economics, I worked in marketing and brand research for over 20 years. I was always fascinated by what makes people think and behave as they do and how they can be influenced.
In 2023 I decided I wanted to help with the Mental Health Crisis and started my training in Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy with CPHT.
Since then, I have continued to train in other kinds of hypnotherapy and regularly attend courses and workshops.
I am currently a student of the Andrew Parr training academy.

If you think you are interested in working together then we can get together for an initial consultation. The session lasts around an hour and gives each of us a chance to ask questions to see if I am the right therapist for you.
-
Absolutely! Furthermore, if I see you out and about, I won’t approach you (although I am always happy to say hello if you would like to approach me).
